Clay Marbling — Discover the Fascinating World of Marbled Clay on the Wheel

Discover the magic of marbled clay and experiment with colours, patterns, and unexpected effects. During this two-day workshop, you will learn how to combine different clay bodies on the wheel to create unique and organic marbled surfaces.

The workshop begins with a demonstration where Dieter shares different ways of preparing the clay to achieve specific colour effects and marbling patterns. You will then start experimenting yourself and discover how the material continuously reveals new and surprising designs.

After the first exercises, we will move on to larger pieces and throw a large bowl using your favourite colour combinations. Next, we will work vertically and create unique vases designed to beautifully showcase any bouquet.

The second day focuses mainly on trimming. Dieter will demonstrate his personal approach and explain how he works with clay at different stages, from leather-hard to fully dry.

By the end of the workshop, you will leave not only with beautiful creations, but also with the techniques and understanding needed to better control marbling and continue experimenting in your own ceramic practice.
